Company History

Sandale Utility Products has had a long-standing history in the thermoplastics utility industry. The business was established in 1990 as a supplier of polyethylene pipe, fittings, and fusion equipment for the potable water and natural gas markets. Since then Sandale has expanded across North America with 13 locations in major cities of Canada and the United States. Sandale has continually broadened the scope of supply and usage for polyethylene pipe, valve, and fitting system design into new market segments.

Sandale is committed to becoming a business for everything HDPE, which includes the fusion equipment and certified technical training to assist with the installation and fabrication of any HDPE related project. Market Segments

MINING & INDUSTRIAL

Due to the corrosion resistance, durability, and long-life span of HDPE it has been recognized as an ideal pipe product for a range of mining and industrial applications. HDPE is capable of conveying varies types of waste and drain water that are acidic or alkaline. HDPE has an application throughout the phase of production of crude oil and natural gas while also being ideal for water supply lines, dewatering, and sliplining of oilfield service lines. HDPE also pairs well with mechanical applications on mine sites that rely on a product that will offer a long-lasting leak free system.

MARINE

In additional to HDPE being an ideal infrastructure product on land it has qualities that make it a building solution for a wide range of marine applications. HDPE is used frequently in marine based projects because of its resistance to impact damage, chemicals, weathering, and marine organism growth. Residential docks, sea port infrastructure, and marine farming are marine market segments that have benefitted from using HDPE when design systems that need to be leak free, long lasting and withstand the elements of coastal climates.

MUNICIPAL & IRRIGATION

Sandale has a wide range of pipe, valves, and fittings that can create a leak free monolithic pipe system that would last 100 years. An HDPE water, sewer, or storm system can be designed to improve the life expectancy of municipal infrastructure and lower overall life cycle costs of a project. Sandale has a nationwide team that is capable in assisting with a wide variety of municipal infrastructure projects such as:

In addition to the municipal section HDPE is frequently used for agricultural and golf course irrigation. HDPE systems prevent leaking caused by water hammer and continual fluctuations in the systems flow and use. The expansion and contraction from freezing and the soil movement would deteriorate other pipe systems, but HDPE withstands the test of time in the irrigation market place.

ENERGY

HDPE has been a product used for many industrial energy market segments for an assortment of reasons. Sandale offers Factory Mutual (FM) pipe and fittings systems that can be used for fire water applications for critical areas of an industrial project. Sandale is also and experienced supplier of custom fabricated HDPE systems to fit specific design needs of a plant or project. Since HDPE can operate under pressures over 320psi (PE4710) and varying temperatures HDPE pipe has been used for fire protection, geothermal, nuclear, telecommunications, insulation and chilling projects for years.

HDPE has been used to creating a climate regulating system by harnessing the earth’s constant temperature. By drilling a series of vertical or horizontal loops of small diameter HDPE pipe a commercial or residential building can be sustainably cooled or heated by using this source of renewable energy. HDPE is also commonly used for the fabrication of geothermal vaults and service stations to design a larger geothermal system to sustainable heat and cool a larger quantity of buildings.

As society continually demands more from its internet and fiber optic infrastructure HDPE is there to assist in the development of this vital industry. Conduit has been a growing industry that HDPE is used because it can be produced on reels in multiple colours to identify the pipe and is ideal for horizontal directional drilling (HDD). HDPE will continue to be a cost-effective option for conduit applications throughout North America.

LANDFILL

Landfills and leachate lagoons are continually being added to with various stages of decomposition occurring in the same environment. No other pipe and fitting system can withstand the corrosive environment and tremendous pressures of landfills as they increase in size better than HDPE. HDPE is an excellent drainage pipe for landfill ventilation and leachate collection. Leachate collection is the liquid waste created from decomposition, condensation, and rainfall that a landfill is exposed to. HDPE pipe and fittings can be perforated or slotted to meet almost any requirements of a leachate collection system to ensure safe and successful management of a landfill.
